Spur Terms & Conditions

1. Any member of Surrey police, police staff or Special Constables who currently subscribes to the Surrey Police Sports Association is entitled to register their interest with Surrey Police United Riders, SPUR, which is the force Riding Club.

2. Registration must be through www.spur.org.uk where the details will be varified and authorised.

3. On joining SPUR the member accepts and agrees to be bound by these conditions of membership.

4. Payment of the annual membership will entitle the member to membership of SPUR for a twelve-month period.

5. Membership must be renewed on the expiration of the twelve-month period.

6. In the event of the annual membership fee not being renewed by the expiry date, it is deemed to have expired and it will be necessary for the member to re-apply for membership.

7. Membership may be terminated by SPUR or the sports association for violation of any rules or regulations of the sports association or for conduct deemed by either SPUR or Surrey Police to be detrimental to the welfare, good order, safety or character of the organisation or its members.

8. Membership is for Surrey Police employees only and not transferable or extended to family members.

9. Membership fees are not refundable under any circumstance.

10. The member acknowledges that he/she is in good health and not suffering from any disease or illness.

11. Neither Surrey Police or SPUR will be responsible for the loss of personal items or damage to personal property at any event associated to SPUR.

12. Members take personal responsibility for entering an event and neither Surrey Police or SPUR will be held accountable or responsbile in the event of any injury, accident or liability.

13. In the event of any dispute arising between a member and SPUR the decision of the board or force sports association will be final.

14. The board of SPUR reserves the right to amend and add to these conditions of membership and rules as it sees fit and the member shall observe any amended or additional conditions or rules so made.

15. Riding is a potentially dangerous sport and therefore all new members will need to demonstrate to an accredited SPUR member qualified to at least the level of AI that they are a safe and competent to ride.

16. It is strongly recommended that all members participating in events obtain some form of third party insurance.

17. Competition team selection will be based on ability, qualification and availability.

18. All prize money or rewards achieved whilst representing Surrey Police will be retained by SPUR.

19. All rossettes & trophies will be retained by members.

20. Any hiring of horses with third parties will be the responsibility of the member to ensure they are fit for purpose.

21. Members are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary equipement for the event they are participating in and that it is of the necessary standard required.

22. Members competiting at affiliated shows have responsibility to ensure they and the horse are registered with the relevant organisation and aware of their terms and conditions.

23. Members representing Surrey Police at event will be responsible in obtain authority from their direct line supervisors to claim time as a duty day.

24. Members uploading photographs on to www.spur.org.uk take responsibility for copy rights or obtaining permission to publish.
